Chinese Brands Dominate the India Smartphone Market

The Indian smartphone market witnessed almost 27 Million units, elevating by 4.7% successively and 14% this year, as the market improved from the impacts of demonetization in the first quarter of 2017. As per the IDC India, vendors based from China confined almost 51.4% of the consignments of smartphone while contribution of domestic sellers plunged to 13.5% from 40.5% in the first quarter of 2017. In spite of the slothful chronological rate, the market witnessed an elevation in to $155 average trade price from $131 in the first quarter 2017 as compared to last year.

Let us have a look at the market share in the last quarter of 2016. Samsung grabbed the first position contributing almost 25.10% of Indian smartphone market. Next in the list was Xiaomi with 10.70% of share in the Indian smartphone market. Followed by Xiaomi was Lenovo Group that contributed 9.90% of share in the Indian smartphone market. Followed by Lenovo Group was Oppo that made a contribution of 8.60% in the Indian smartphone market. Last but not the least, Vivo had a share of 7.60% in the Indian smartphone market in the last quarter of 2016.

Now comparatively, let us have a look at the first quarter of 2017. Samsung grabbed the first position contributing almost 28.10% of Indian smartphone market. Next in the list was Xiaomi with 14.20% of share in the Indian smartphone market. Followed by Xiaomi was Lenovo Group that contributed 10.50% of share in the Indian smartphone market. Followed by Lenovo Group was Oppo that made a contribution of 9.50% in the Indian smartphone market. Last but not the least, Vivo had a share of 9.30% in the Indian smartphone market in the last quarter of 2016.

The number clearly shows that the Chinese vendors rule the Indian smartphone market and compared to last year, their impact was much more this year. The main reason for these vendors to flourish in the Indian market is due to the quality of handsets they offer. 

Experts say that this number might elevate in the next quarter of 2017 as well. Let us see as to how much the Indian smartphone market is influenced by the Chinese vendors.
